MedStar Health is seeking a highly skilled Critical Care APP to join our team at MedStar St. Mary's Hospital. As a Critical Care APP, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare system.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide emergent and urgent care to patients in critical condition.
- Perform histories and physical examinations of patients.
- Establish appropriate medical diagnoses based on patient history, chart review, physical exam, lab testing, and radiographic imaging.
- Recommending, initiating, and managing appropriate therapeutic interventions for various pathologies, including respiratory failure, heart failure, shock, and acid-base disturbances.
- Present patients on daily rounds with the ICU attending and multidisciplinary team.
- Collaborate with all involved care teams, including other consultants.
- Perform bedside procedures, including insertion of central venous, non-tunneled dialysis, and arterial catheters, as well as chest tubes and thoracentesis.
- Communicate between healthcare professionals to promote safe patient transition between shifts, services, and/or levels of care.
- Educate and supervise new graduate APPs and students where appropriate.
- Graduation from an accredited physician assistant or acute care nurse practitioner program.
- NCCPA (physician assistant) or AGACNP (nurse practitioner) certification.
- BLS and ACLS certifications.
- One year of critical care experience or in-patient hospital medicine is preferred. The ideal candidate will have experience in advanced procedures. New graduates will be considered.
