Student Wildland Fire Assistant Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Student Wildland Fire Assistant to join our team at Stephen F. Austin State University.

About the Role

The successful candidate will assist in various activities related to wildland fire management, including participating in prescribed burns, wildfires, and other fire-related activities with USFS and other agencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in wildland fire activities, including prescribed burns and wildfires.
  • Assist in maintaining equipment and vehicles used for wildland fire operations.
  • Support fire management planning and coordination efforts.
  • Collaborate with USFS and other agency personnel on wildland fire projects.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in challenging outdoor environments.
  • RED CARD certification through U.S.F.S.
  • Pack test certification.
  • Up-to-date physical conditioning.
