Job Summary

This position works under the supervision of the Registered Nurse to provide high-quality patient care and support services. The ideal candidate will be able to prioritize tasks, organize care, and perform basic nursing skills as directed by the nurse.

Key Responsibilities
  • Under the direction of the nurse, prioritize and organize care of assigned patients, performing basic nursing skills as outlined in policy and procedures.
  • Document patient treatments and observations on the chart, providing accurate and timely information to the healthcare team.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly unit, adhering to infection control and safety protocols.
  • Provide excellent customer service, demonstrating professionalism and courtesy at all times.
Requirements
  • Must hold an internal MidMichigan Health Patient Care Technician certification or a current State of Michigan registry document as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or completion of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification culminating in licensure in the state of Michigan or completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse program culminating in licensure in the State of Michigan or successful completion of one semester of nursing clinical education by an Accredited Registered Nurse Program.
  • Effective 11/22/2019, we can also accept a Medical Assistant with the following: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through American Medical Technologist (AMT), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), OR equivalent Medical Assistant Credential such as Certified Clinical Medical Assistant CCMA, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM ADVANCED) certification within 6 months of hire or transfer.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent exposure to stressful situations, including those involving public contact, trauma, grief, and death. The ideal candidate will be able to maintain a calm and professional demeanor in these situations.

The physical demands of this position include frequent standing, walking, and lifting of up to 50 pounds. The ability to wear personal protective equipment, including latex materials or appropriate substitutes, is also required.
