Position Overview:
The Physician Assistant (PA) is a licensed professional tasked with functioning in an advanced specialty role. The PA is responsible for the evaluation and management of patients, which includes ordering diagnostic tests, consultations, therapeutic interventions, and the daily execution and assessment of a suitable care plan. This role provides comprehensive healthcare tailored to the needs of the population, including assessment, diagnosis, prescribing, and referrals when necessary. The PA enhances a physician's capacity to deliver medical services to patients by collecting and documenting data, conducting diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, ordering and scheduling laboratory studies, and providing direct patient care services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilizes knowledge of anatomy, principles of neurology, microbiology, physiology, psychology, pharmacology, and medical terminology as applicable in an urgent care environment. Conducts patient assessments and physical examinations, collects clinical data including vital signs, prepares patients for tests and treatments, orders and interprets medical laboratory results, diagnoses medical conditions, administers medications or treatments, and performs minor surgical procedures.
  • Demonstrates understanding of the information and techniques required to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities, including symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive healthcare measures.
  • Participates in staffing the outpatient addiction medicine clinic alongside attending physicians. Coordinates care for inpatient consult services for patients admitted to various specialties, including Trauma, Surgery, Medicine, Pediatrics, and Ob/Gyn.
  • Collaborates with attending physicians to provide clinical support and education for providers managing patients with opioid use disorder. Works with community partners to improve access to medically assisted therapy for opioid use disorder.
  • Ensures accurate patient coding for effective billing, maintains detailed patient medical records, and oversees inventory of medical supplies and instruments.
  • Acts as a resource and team leader during clinical shifts to facilitate smooth patient processing, treatment, and discharge, including patient triaging.
