A Clinical Nurse Specialist is a licensed professional nurse (RN) who oversees patient-focused care that is directed towards achieving positive outcomes.
The principles of patient-centered care and established nursing practice standards form the basis for the nurse to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care delivered.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist takes on the primary responsibility and accountability for all patient care provided directly and that which is managed by those under their supervision.
In this role, you will prescribe, delegate, and coordinate nursing care for acutely ill patients through the nursing process, which includes assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.
You will also engage effectively with patients, their families, and other healthcare team members, while upholding ANA standards of professional nursing practice and adhering to all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and regulatory standards.
On our 9 East unit, we deliver care to a diverse group of medical multispecialty patients in collaboration with hospitalists and other advanced practice providers.
This is a 28-bed telemetry unit that provides care for patients during their acute medical needs while preparing for their transition to home, sub-acute rehabilitation, or other skilled facilities.

Required Qualifications:- Graduate of an NLN accredited School of Nursing.
- Associate Degree in Nursing; BSN degree or higher preferred.
- Associate Degree Nurses are required to enroll in a BSN program within six (6) to nine (9) months of hire and make progress toward completing their BSN degree within 30 months.
- Current Illinois RN license
