Your Responsibilities:

This role involves being a dedicated Supplier Performance Specialist at a key structural module manufacturer situated in Portland. While some remote work may be available, candidates should be based in the Portland region.

  • Conduct both on-site and remote supplier oversight to ensure adherence to Westinghouse's technical and quality standards.
  • Formulate and execute Supplier Oversight Plans to ensure timely completion of essential document submissions, manufacturing tasks, surveillance points, inspections, and tests, while guaranteeing vendor compliance with critical specifications.
  • Coordinate the efforts of Westinghouse teams responsible for enhancing supplier performance, including Supply Chain, Design Engineering, and Supplier Quality Oversight.
  • Proactively identify and escalate significant supplier challenges, risks, and quality incidents.
  • Facilitate swift resolution of issues by coordinating activities, issuing timely communications, and identifying stakeholders to ensure prompt recognition of affected products, resolution of issues, and implementation of corrective measures.
  • Track key supplier performance indicators (On-Time Delivery, Quality issues, Deviation Notices, etc.) for assigned suppliers to proactively detect negative performance trends and apply causal analysis, corrective actions, and Supplier Improvement Plans to address issues.
  • Assess procurement (supplier) risks, gather stakeholder input, and utilize tools and resources to create supply security risk mitigation strategies.
  • Manage internal and external (supplier) corrective action requests, conducting root cause analyses and verifying the completion of preventive and corrective actions.

Supplier Development:

  • Conduct technical assessments of new and existing suppliers to evaluate manufacturing capabilities, capacity, process controls, compliance with relevant regulations, codes & standards, and associated risks.
  • Identify discrepancies between supplier evaluations and Westinghouse's technical/quality standards and implement necessary improvements.
  • Lead supplier development and qualification initiatives for new products, supplier enhancement projects, and cost reduction strategies. This includes executing supplier development activities to establish or refine suppliers' manufacturing processes and quality management systems to meet Westinghouse's requirements.
  • Review and assess supplier process documentation, process capability analyses, measurement system evaluations, and input for design manufacturability.
  • Collaborate with Design Engineering to ensure the clarity and integrity of engineering drawing requirements and that all expectations are effectively communicated to support suppliers.
  • Assist in the implementation of Value Analysis/Value Engineering, Design for Assembly, and Design for Manufacturing principles during the design phase.

Who You Are:

As a successful candidate, you will bring the following qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering.
  • At least 8 years of progressive experience in engineering/manufacturing.
  • Preferred experience in the Power Generation or Nuclear Industries, but experience in sectors such as Oil & Gas, Pipelines, Refineries, Offshore Oil Production Platforms, Shipbuilding, Manufacturing Plants, Supply Chain, etc., is also acceptable.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, including precision machining (turning, milling, etc.), welding, forming, mechanical assembly, NDE and inspection, and testing.
  • Experience in conducting process capability analysis (Cpk) and qualification.
  • Working knowledge of Manufacturing and Quality Plans, PFMEAs, etc.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent cross-functional projects.
  • Proficiency in authoring technical documents or operational procedures.
  • Ability to interpret drawings and specifications according to ASME standards.
  • Experience with nuclear products and standards is desirable.
