The Certified Surgical Technologist - PRN is a vital member of the operating room team, responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and successful surgical procedures. This role requires a high level of technical skill, attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Assist surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses to facilitate safe and effective patient care
- Anticipate and respond to surgeons' needs by having appropriate instruments, supplies, and equipment for surgical procedures
- Maintain sterile technique and environment
- Prepare operating room for surgical procedures with appropriate supplies, equipment, and instrumentation
- Perform appropriate counts with Circulating Nurse as required by policy
- Respond to and function effectively in emergency situations
- Current CST certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or has completed a military surgical technology program
- CSTs must complete 60 hours of approved continuing education in a 4-year timeframe with 15 CEUs turned into education every year
- Current BLS certification
- Member of professional organization (AST) preferred
