Valiant Integrated Services presents a compelling opportunity for a Junior Software Exploit Engineer within the Defense Threat Reduction Agency's (DTRA) Advanced Red Cyber program. This role focuses on conducting Red Team Assessments, which involve evaluating security measures from an adversarial perspective. Red Teams utilize a comprehensive range of identified adversarial capabilities, adhering to customer mandates and legal, safety, and security regulations, to assess and enhance protection strategies while demonstrating the exploitation of recognized vulnerabilities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and develop tools, exploits, and code tailored for red cyber operations. Engage in open-source research to identify cyber vulnerabilities and advance exploitation techniques.
- Demonstrate proficiency in reverse engineering to analyze source code for the creation of tools or exploits.
- Utilize scripting languages or develop in programming languages such as C or C++.
- Conduct thorough code reviews on all offensive scripts and manage them through the necessary approval workflows.
- Examine operational Techniques, Tactics, and Procedures (TTPs) to create exploits and scripts that automate and enhance operational workflows. These innovations will improve the emulation of adversarial threats and facilitate the demonstration and exploitation of vulnerabilities in critical networks and systems.
- Document safe and secure practices for both internally and externally developed tools in accordance with Red Team policies and procedures.
- Assist in or conduct DevOps reviews of code for operational validation.
- Leverage existing proof of concept code to customize and refine exploits for use in Command and Control (C2) tools.
- Contribute to the development and optimization of C2 tools to improve their effectiveness and minimize detection risks.
- Respond to urgent development requests as needed to support assessments, ensuring that tailored tools and exploits are assembled, tested, and approved swiftly upon identifying a vulnerability.

Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent professional experience.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience with a proven track record in managing significant projects.
Clearance: TS, with TS/SCI eligibility preferred.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
Hybrid work schedule - 4 days in office, 1 remote. Typical office environment with potential for extensive domestic and international travel, exposure to extreme weather conditions. Responsibilities may include sitting, walking, talking, hearing, reading, writing, keyboarding, driving, filing, reaching, stooping, crouching, bending, standing for extended periods, and lifting or carrying up to 40 pounds.
