Job Summary

This Peer Support Apprentice position is a unique opportunity to join the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration team and make a meaningful impact in the lives of our nation's heroes. As a Peer Support Apprentice, you will play a vital role in providing support and guidance to Veterans who are struggling with mental health issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Veterans in articulating their goals for recovery and personal wellness
  • Help Veterans learn and practice new skills to manage their mental health
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to Veterans in a non-clinical setting
  • Model effective coping techniques and self-help strategies based on your own recovery experience
  • Support Veterans in advocating for themselves to obtain effective services
Requirements
  • Must be a WOMEN-Identified Veteran
  • Must have spent a minimum of 1 year in recovery from a mental health condition
  • Must be able to perform primarily light and sedentary duties with occasionally moderate physical demands
  • Must be able to exercise patience and control emotions in a fast-paced environment
