Job Summary

BGIS is seeking a highly skilled Building Systems Technician to join our team in Atlanta, GA. As a key member of our facilities management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our building systems, including HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research into the feasibility, design, operation, and performance of building systems.
  • Work with our multi-disciplinary team to develop short and long-term capital planning for existing facilities.
  • Assist with preparation of project justifications and project descriptions during the planning phase.
  • Support project delivery services, acting as an owner's engineer, during project initiation and planning.
  • Utilize standard cost estimating software to establish baseline estimates.
  • Review statements of work for consulting services and achieve savings by providing expertise to property managers.
  • Collaborate with account-specific leads to develop technical scopes of work for maintenance contracts.
  • Conduct regular technical inspections and audits on maintenance tasks completed by third-party vendors or in-house technicians.
  • Participate in technical investigations related to non-conformances, deviations, or critical failures.

Requirements:

  • Mechanical or electrical engineering technologist diploma with 7+ years of relevant experience or a bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of building electrical and mechanical systems, applicable Canadian codes and standards, and ability to liaison with authority having jurisdictions.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment, work on multiple projects concurrently, and maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff, and other employees.
  • Strong organization skills, exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, and proficiency with MS Office suite.
  • Certified engineering technologist certification in good standing or professional engineering (P.Eng.) designation in good standing required.
