Job Overview

Compensation: Starting wage of $20.00 per hour, with a Med Aide wage of $19.00 in lieu of benefits. Additional weekend differential of $0.75 and night shift differential of $2.00. Employee meals are complimentary, and ZayZoon allows for flexible payment options.

Position Summary

The role of the Medication Aide is crucial in supporting licensed nursing staff (RN or LPN/LVN) in delivering safe and ethical care to residents. This includes administering prescribed medications and performing other delegated nursing duties as permitted by state regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer oral, inhalation, and topical medications to residents under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse, adhering to state law.
  • Monitor residents for any adverse drug reactions and promptly report issues to nursing staff.
  • Carry out tasks related to medication administration, including monitoring vital signs, calculating dosages, and maintaining the medication cart.
  • Document medication administration in accordance with agency protocols.
  • Assist nursing staff in providing comprehensive care to residents, including observation and reporting of their needs.
  • Recognize and execute tasks within the scope of education and training.
  • Take responsibility for personal performance in compliance with state laws and regulations.
  • Perform duties ethically, legally, and compassionately.
  • Ensure tasks are conducted safely and effectively to promote resident comfort and welfare.
  • Uphold residents' rights and maintain confidentiality of their information unless safety and welfare require otherwise.
  • Adhere to federal, state, and agency regulations to safeguard personal health and that of others.
  • Seek guidance from nursing staff as necessary to ensure safe and efficient task execution.
Required Competencies

Essential qualities include a focus on customer/client service, ethical conduct, adaptability, initiative, personal effectiveness, stress management, teamwork orientation, technical proficiency, multitasking ability, compassion, infection control, health promotion, and maintaining a safe environment.

Physical Requirements

This position is physically demanding, requiring prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing. The employee must frequently lift or move objects and patients weighing over 50 pounds.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of one year of experience in the healthcare industry.
  • Certification as a Medication Aide.
  • Experience in producing specialized materials and documents.
  • Proficiency in proofreading and editing.
