Position Overview

The Inova Fairfax Hospital Outpatient Rehabilitation Team is actively seeking a dedicated Full-Time Physical Therapist to enhance our multidisciplinary adult outpatient rehabilitation services. The ideal candidate will possess experience in managing a range of neurological conditions and show a keen interest in working with the vestibular patient demographic. We welcome applicants with strong clinical training in outpatient neuro rehabilitation.

Work Schedule
The position offers flexible scheduling options, including either four 10-hour days (with Fridays required) or five 8-hour days. Currently, there are no weekend or holiday shifts expected.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough evaluations and select appropriate treatment methodologies tailored to the patient's diagnosis, age, and emotional state while developing effective treatment plans.
  • Document evaluation results comprehensively, adhering to departmental policies.
  • Maintain daily progress notes reflecting patient responses, performance, and treatment plan assessments, including discharge needs.
  • Prepare discharge summaries that encapsulate treatment progress, recommendations for follow-up, and educational guidance for patients and families.
  • Ensure documentation is clear, concise, and completed within designated timeframes to facilitate continuity of care and reimbursement processes.
  • Engage with families, physicians, and healthcare team members proactively to address patient needs.
  • Provide educational resources and training to patients and caregivers, ensuring comprehension and engagement.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, remaining open to feedback and adjustments.
  • Offer guidance and supervision to assistive personnel in accordance with clinic policies.
  • Take on leadership roles in departmental committees and special projects, leveraging clinical expertise.
  • Exhibit fiscal responsibility regarding departmental resources, including supplies and equipment.
  • Conduct re-evaluations in line with departmental protocols.
  • Utilize therapeutic techniques throughout treatment, adapting plans as necessary based on patient progress.
  • Demonstrate ongoing knowledge of therapeutic applications and evaluation methods.
  • Employ creative problem-solving skills to tailor treatments to unique patient circumstances.
  • Oversee the entire Physical Therapy patient management process from initial contact through to discharge, ensuring safety and effective outcomes.
  • Address discharge planning needs from the outset of treatment.
  • Select and administer relevant evaluation tools and accurately interpret results.
  • Develop prioritized goals and treatment plans based on collaborative input from patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Formulate comprehensive treatment strategies aimed at enhancing patient functionality and addressing referral reasons.
  • May undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications

Certification - Basic Life Support upon commencement
Licensure - Physical Therapist upon commencement
Experience - Not mandatory
Education - Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy
