Climbing Instructor

We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Climbing/Zip Operator to join our team at BSA Summit Group. As a key member of our outdoor education team, you will be responsible for providing instruction in climbing and rappelling techniques to participants, while maintaining a safe and enjoyable experience.

• Provide instruction in climbing and rappelling techniques to participants
• Provide first line supervision of climbing activities during operations
• Become familiar with all the proper gear supplied prior to the camping season
• Participate in the specialized program training during the staff training period
• Continue on-the-job training throughout the season
• Other duties or projects as assigned by SBR leadership

• 18 years of age or older
• Must be able to complete Guide Training and assessment (provided)
• Preferred: Possess current First Aid and CPR and AED certification
• Preferred: BSA C.O.P.E. Level 1 or 2 Instructor Certification (training provided)
• Preferred: Experience guiding/facilitating and managing others
• Ability to use Microsoft Teams daily for work related communication and coordination
• Be or become a registered member of Scouting America

• Completes contract period with 2-4 positive experiences
• Receive one or more Staff Appreciation Cards from staff or participants
• Contribute at least one improvement to the Rocks/Canopy program
• Provide at least one memorable moment that matters to a participant

• Up to 8 hours a day of either standing, walking, hiking, and the ability to lift 50-70 lbs.
• Comfortable at heights of 6' to 180'
• Can pass the physical exam and approved for SBR height and weight requirements
