Job Title: CDL Trainer

At Texas State Technical College, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced CDL Trainer to join our team. As a CDL Trainer, you will play a critical role in training students to obtain a career in the transportation industry.

Job Summary:

The CDL Trainer will be responsible for training students to have the knowledge to pass the commercial vehicle and driving exams. This includes demonstrating TSTC Core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service, and Integrity with internal and external stakeholders, customers, students, and members of the community.

Key Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate skill and/or knowledge in teaching discipline.
• Evaluate students to measure their progress toward achievement of stated course objectives and inform them of their progress in a timely manner.
• Complete documentation including grades, reports, maintenance logs, etc., as required by the supervisor.
• Respond in a timely manner to all student, staff, and general public inquiries received via email, text, and phone systems.
• Possess a thorough understanding of college policies, procedures, requirements, and effectively communicate them to applicants and students.
• Actively participate in discipline committee or program meetings and activities.

Requirements:

• TSTC CDL Instructors must demonstrate skill and/or knowledge in teaching discipline, with a minimum of three years of professional driving experience.
• Must hold a CDL Class A Instructor License from a state approving agency as applicable.
• Ability to work flexible hours.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time in both indoor and outdoor settings where weather conditions vary.
• Must be willing to travel to teach, instruct, or perform examinations as needed.
• Must have a fundamental knowledge of computer systems and the operation of word processors, e-mails, and spreadsheets.
