Role Overview:

The Production Engineering Specialist will:

  • Enhance existing product lines and facilitate the introduction of new offerings by -
    • Assessing, refining, and innovating manufacturing processes, leveraging expertise in design, materials, and components.
    • Creating bespoke machinery, overseeing its construction, testing, installation, and operator education.
  • Contribute to the safety objectives of the organization, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Identify and implement cost-reduction strategies.
  • Research, define, and negotiate the acquisition of capital equipment, managing its setup and training.
  • Recognize the significance of integrating processes within current facilities to optimize material flow.
  • Collaborate with global teams to deliver high-quality, market-leading irrigation solutions.
  • This position may require occasional travel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey information to stakeholders.
  • Utilize MRP/ERP systems proficiently.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to quality assurance processes.
  • Exhibit excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Work collaboratively with Operations, Quality Assurance, Maintenance, Sourcing, Product Engineering, and Shipping teams.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, or an Associate's Degree with 7 years of experience, or 9 years of applicable experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Creo/Windchill.
  • Solid understanding of machine and tool design principles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five years of experience in a Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering role.
  • Familiarity with Lean methodologies, 5S, Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, Six Sigma, and Standardized Work practices.
  • Experience in welding, galvanizing, stamping, machining, and fixture design.
  • Professional certifications such as CME (Certified Manufacturing Engineer) and/or PE (Professional Engineer).
  • Master's degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering.

Work Environment:

  • This role involves a combination of office work and hands-on activities on the manufacturing floor.
  • Communication with global teams may occur at various times throughout the day.
  • Ability to operate computers and other necessary equipment is essential.
  • Physical requirements include occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds and maintaining proper ergonomic practices.
