Job Overview

Uncommon Schools is a nonprofit network of high-performing, public charter schools providing an outstanding K-12 education in historically under-resourced communities. We are seeking a dedicated and passionate English Language Arts (ELA) teacher to join our team at one of our high schools in Boston. As an ELA teacher, you will play a critical role in shaping the educational experience of our students and helping them develop a love of reading and writing.

Responsibilities

  • Teach English Language Arts to high school students, including reading, writing, and discussion skills.
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that meet the needs of all learners.
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet the needs of individual students.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement school-wide initiatives.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to improve teaching practices and stay current on best practices in ELA education.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field.
  • Teaching certification or eligibility for certification in Massachusetts.
  • Experience teaching English Language Arts to high school students.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
