Nurse Supervisor

The main purpose of this position is to supervise and monitor the work performance of lower-level Registered Nurses. The Community Health Nurse Supervisor provides direction, guidance, observations, and clinical oversight to lower-level nursing staff and Family Support Workers who are licensed as Certified Nursing Assistants.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate potential and current In Home Aide customers to determine their medical necessity for In Home Aide Service.
- Supervise, plan, schedule, assign, review, and monitor the work performance of staff Community Health Nurses.

Education: A Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.
Experience: One year of experience as a Community Health Nurse.
Notes:
1. Candidates may substitute a Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and one year of experience as a Registered Nurse for the required education.
2. Candidates may substitute two years of experience as a Registered Nurse for the required education.
3. Candidates may substitute a Master's degree in nursing or related field from an accredited college or university for the required education and experience.
4. Candidates may substitute one year of experience in an administrative, supervisory, consultative, or teaching capacity as a Registered Nurse for the required experience.
5. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Nursing classification or Nursing or Health Care Specialist specialty codes in the Nursing field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.
Desired or Preferred Qualifications:
One year of experience with interpreting and enforcing policies and procedures in order to provide quality care.
One year of experience providing supervision in a nursing home or hospital.
One year of experience as a Home Health Nurse.
One year of experience providing clinical and leadership skills to diverse staff to provide a high-quality of patient care.
Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications:
1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a registered nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing.
2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

Employees in this classification will be required to provide the facility with a telephone number at which they can be reached.

Examination Process:
The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training, and experience as presented on your application and as they relate to the requirements of the position. You may be asked to complete a supplemental questionnaire. The supplemental questionnaire may be used as part of the rating process. Therefore, it is important that you provide complete and accurate information on your application.

Holidays: State employees also celebrate at least twelve (12) holiday per year.
Pension: State employees earn credits towards a retirement pension.
