About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Design Engineer to join our Indoor Lighting Portfolio team at Acuity Brands. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for leading the development of new products and product enhancements, while ensuring manufacturability and quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead mechanical product design and/or redesign, creating part assemblies and detailed part drawings.
  • Develop and manage complex product test and evaluation programs, including prototyping and assembly of samples.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive product development from concept to production.
  • Apply LEAN Process methodology to drive impact, streamline workflows, and improve processes.
  • Manage relationships with internal manufacturing facilities and external vendors to resolve part or assembly issues.
Requirements
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven track record of success in engineering of lighting products, appliances, consumer products, or a related manufacturing field of electro-mechanical products.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD and Microsoft Office programs, with SolidWorks software proficiency and CAD data management experience preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of applicable standards and test processes for UL/CSA, DLC, and/or Energy Star.
  • Ability to work proficiently in a cross-functional team environment and communicate verbally, in written form, and through sketches, engineering drawings, presentations, renderings, and prototypes.
