The Vice President of Underwriting - Capital Equipment Finance spearheads underwriting initiatives by managing Capital Equipment Finance (CEF) portfolios with a high degree of expertise and complexity.

This role supports the CEF lending team by providing insights into structuring, analysis, and credit documentation for CEF credit actions. It involves assessing the viability of repayment sources and preparing comprehensive credit approval memos. The position entails identifying, collecting, and evaluating financial data to establish credit ratings and suitable loan structures. It also includes assessing and communicating risks to enhance departmental risk mitigation strategies.

This role provides exceptional service and support to both team members and clients, assisting with customer inquiries and identifying potential cross-selling opportunities.

The Vice President will offer guidance on complex underwriting issues and lead special projects as necessary to enhance CEF lending operations and service capabilities, potentially acting as a mentor to less experienced underwriters.Responsibilities

- Analyze and underwrite new and existing lease/loan transactions.
- Demonstrate strong financial modeling capabilities, with the ability to structure, conduct due diligence, document, and finalize intricate transactions.

The ideal candidate will possess robust credit and analytical skills, capable of multitasking in a fast-paced team environment.

- Interact effectively with Originators and exhibit strong verbal communication skills.
- Assist with portfolio management activities on accounts for equipment loans and leases with an aggregate portfolio exposure of approximately $1 billion.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant credit policies, standards, and procedures.
- Make informed recommendations on new credit requests, renewals, and modifications, ensuring the quality and integrity of all credit transactions.
- Document credit decisions, conditions, and modifications to align with client needs while balancing the bank's internal risk/return requirements.

Extensive knowledge of equipment finance across various asset classes and obligor types is essential, along with solid documentation skills and the ability to lead transactions from inception to completion.

Qualifications


Required: Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 6 years of experience in Commercial Lending or Credit Analysis, including financial statement analysis, projection preparation, and trailing twelve-month analysis.

Alternatively, a Management role or a High School Diploma/GED with 10 years of experience in Commercial Lending or Credit Analysis is acceptable.

Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or Economics.

Experience in finance and banking is essential, with a focus on credit training programs and a minimum of 5 years of underwriting experience within the equipment leasing sector.

Prior leadership or management experience is preferred but not mandatory. Experience in problem loan management or workouts is a plus, as is familiarity with aircraft leasing. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, is required, along with experience using Moody's Credit Lens.
