Job Summary:The PACU Registered Nurse will provide high-quality patient care in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit, working closely with an interdisciplinary team to ensure seamless transitions and optimal patient outcomes.
Responsibilities:- Provide individualized care to patients recovering from anesthesia, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and performing various nursing interventions.
- Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and timely communication of patient information.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans, taking into account patient needs, preferences, and cultural backgrounds.
- Document patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments, updating all changes in physician orders as necessary.
- Assist physicians in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment.
- Obtain and monitor physiological data of patients, observe physiological manifestations, and intervene when necessary.
- Administer prescribed medications and initiate, regulate, and monitor intravenous infusions and blood products.
- Deliver patient care competently, prioritizing patient safety and well-being.
- Interact with family and patient in sharing care plans during hospitalization and at discharge.
- Inform patients and families of hospital procedures.
- Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel.
- Delegate tasks to support staff.
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
- Current RN licensure and BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications issued by the American Heart Association.
- Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Nursing from a board-approved program.
