Music Librarian

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Music and Performing Arts Librarian to join our team at the University of Kentucky Libraries. As a key member of our faculty, you will play a vital role in supporting the research and educational needs of students, faculty, and staff in music and the performing arts.

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with faculty and staff in the School of Music and the department of Theatre and Dance, providing expert research support and guidance.
• Collaborate with colleagues to curate and promote library collections and resources in music and the performing arts, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of our users.
• Design and deliver innovative instruction and outreach programs to promote information literacy and research skills among students and faculty.
• Participate in national and international conversations about music and performing arts librarianship, contributing to the development of best practices and standards in the field.
• Engage in scholarly research and publication, presenting at conferences and publishing in peer-reviewed journals.

• A master's degree in library and information science from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited program, or an equivalent relevant degree.
• A demonstrated understanding of the needs of students, faculty, and researchers in music and/or the performing arts.
• Ability to meet the requirements of a tenure-track librarian position through research, publication, and/or professional engagement.

• Experience working in an academic library or a music and/or performing arts library.
• An undergraduate or advanced degree in music, or a combination of relevant degrees and demonstrated professional experience in music or the performing arts.

This is a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track eligible position in the Librarian Title Series (open rank). The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the development of the UK Libraries' collections, services, and programs, as well as participate in faculty governance and shared leadership opportunities.
