Position Overview

The Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry is currently seeking expressions of interest for overload or adjunct faculty to instruct various courses during the academic terms. The courses available may include, but are not limited to:

  • General Chemistry I and II
  • Chemistry of the Elements
  • Organic Chemistry I, II, and III
  • Science of Contemporary Issues I, II, and III
  • Environmental Chemistry Series
  • Atmospheric Chemistry
  • Aquatic Chemistry
  • Biochemistry Series

Expressions of interest for upcoming terms should be submitted at least one month prior to the commencement of the term.

Essential Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related discipline

Desirable Qualifications

  • Previous experience teaching similar courses at a higher education institution

Work Schedule

While the administrative offices operate Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, faculty schedules may vary each term based on course assignments, service obligations, and research commitments. The academic calendars are available on the registrar's website.

Compensation

Adjunct faculty will receive compensation ranging from $4,854 to $6,068 per course. This range represents the institution's good faith estimate of potential compensation at the time of posting. The final salary offered will depend on factors such as the candidate's qualifications, departmental budget constraints, internal salary equity, and market data, without regard to any protected status.
