The Assistant Nurse Manager is a key member of our nursing team, responsible for supporting the execution of our nursing strategic plan and priorities. This role requires a skilled communicator, collaborator, and authentic leader who can effectively coordinate staffing, support throughput, quality and safety outcomes, staff competency, hiring, clinical and staff corrective actions, unit efficiency, quality care, and other departmental activities to support the mission, vision, and values of Hackensack Meridian Health.
Key Responsibilities- Support the organization in the execution of the nursing strategic plan and priorities.
- Participate in unit and hospital decision-making and provide meaningful recognition to others.
- Provide operational and administrative support to Nurse leadership.
- Coordinate staffing, support throughput, quality and safety outcomes, staff competency, hiring, clinical and staff corrective actions, unit efficiency, quality care, and other departmental activities.
- Assess, plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate nursing practice and the nursing care delivery system with direct supervision of front-line staff.
- Interpret, support, and communicate policies, standards, and procedures.
- Serve as a role model for staff in all aspects of nursing (i.e., professionalism, quality care).
- Assist in identifying cost containment measures by identifying alternative measures of product utilization within the department.
- Serve on-call based on unit requirements.
- Assume special projects as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
- Current and valid New Jersey Nursing license required.
- BSN required; MSN preferred.
- BLS/CPR certification by American Heart Association required.
- Demonstrated clinical competence with a minimum of 3 years of nursing experience required.
- Oncology nursing experience preferred.
- Chemotherapy/biotherapy certification preferred.
- National certification preferred.
- Prior assistant manager or supervisor experience preferred.
