Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our team at Barksdale AFB, LA. As a Physician Assistant specializing in Aviation Medicine, you will have the opportunity to provide a full range of primary and specialty medical care to our military members, their families, and retired military veterans. This is a full-time position with day shifts from Monday to Friday, offering excellent compensation, comprehensive benefits, paid time off, and 11 paid federal holidays. The position does not require weekend work or being on call.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a full range of Physician Assistant services in primary and specialty medical care within the limits of training and privileges granted by the MTF.
  • Supervise and provide general screening, medical care, and examinations of patients for routine, acute, and chronic conditions involving any organ systems.
  • Administer immunizations and diagnose, treat, and counsel patients as indicated.
  • Technically direct and provide care for various diseases and types of injuries, including acute, chronic, and minor trauma.
  • Recognize emergency conditions, diagnose, prescribe, and treat diseases, disorders, and injuries, referring complex cases to qualified medical personnel.
  • Technically direct and teach other staff, provide educational lectures, and participate in in-service training.
  • Promote preventive care, health maintenance, and positive health behaviors through education and counseling.
  • Prescribe medications and immunizations following approved treatment protocols.
  • Identify medical issues and determine appropriate action, including referral to a physician.
  • Perform diagnostic and therapeutic practices and procedures within the scope of practice.
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other staff members to promote primary care services.
  • Teach patients and their family members healthy regimens and responsibilities for achieving wellness.
  • Attend staff meetings to provide case discussions, continuing education, and quality improvement.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Physician Assistant or equivalent.
  • Graduate of a Physician Assistant Training Program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).
  • Minimum of 24 months of recent experience as a Physician Assistant.
  • Current unrestricted license to practice as a Physician Assistant.
  • DEA registration number.
  • Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Committee on Certification Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Current American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to pass a background check/security clearance.
