POSITION SUMMARY
Respond to and address guest repair requests promptly. Engage with guests to resolve maintenance concerns with minimal supervision. Conduct preventive maintenance on tools and equipment, ensuring cleanliness and proper lubrication. Perform visual inspections of tools, equipment, and machinery. Carry necessary equipment (e.g., tools, radio) and identify, locate, and operate all shut-off valves for equipment and buildings. Maintain an inventory of maintenance supplies and requisition parts as necessary. Ensure effective communication of daily activities and issues to other shifts using established communication protocols. Exhibit proficiency in one technical area, advanced skills in two additional areas, and basic skills in others, including air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical systems, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic controls, carpentry, kitchen equipment, and general building management. Demonstrate solid knowledge and skill in the safe operation of hand and power tools required for repair and maintenance tasks. Display basic ability to repair or replace PVC and copper piping (including soldering). Troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on various equipment, plumbing systems, and electrical devices, including lamps and guestroom items. Program televisions and perform general housekeeping and engineering-related duties. Assist with surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood trim repairs, light bulb and A/C filter replacements, and thorough cleanup of work areas. Utilize the Lockout/Tagout system prior to performing maintenance tasks. Maintain working knowledge of engineering computer programs related to preventative maintenance and energy management systems. Conduct mid-level troubleshooting of hotel Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems. Demonstrate the ability to train and mentor junior engineers. Perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities, including readings and rounds.
Adhere to all company policies regarding safety and security; report maintenance issues, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries; complete safety training and certifications; and store flammable materials properly. Ensure uniform and personal appearance are professional, maintain confidentiality of proprietary information, and protect company assets. Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards, anticipate and address service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and express genuine appreciation to guests. Uphold quality expectations and standards. Foster positive working relationships with colleagues, support team objectives, and respond appropriately to employee concerns. Communicate clearly and professionally with others. Lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance, and heavier items with assistance. Navigate stairs, service ramps, and ladders as needed. Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Access work-related information using computers. Perform other reasonable job duties as assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent with vocational or technical training.
Related Work Experience: Experience in general maintenance, surface preparation, and painting.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in hotel engineering or maintenance.
Supervisory Experience: No supervisory experience required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
License or Certification: Valid Driver's License
Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Certification
Must meet applicable state and federal certification and/or licensing requirements.
