Diesel Fleet Technician Job Description

Perdue Transportation Incorporated (PTI) is the private fleet for Perdue Foods, delivering on the promise of customer service and reliability. As a Diesel Fleet Technician, you will be part of a team of safety-minded, professional drivers and technicians.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose, repair, and order parts for vehicles and equipment
  • Perform daily safety inspections and maintain production standards
  • Operate equipment to verify proper operation and identify problem causes
  • Utilize shop computer for diagnosis and applicable software
  • Ensure work orders are properly completed and work repair task description is accurate
Requirements:
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Minimum one-year technical training at an Accredited Technical School (preferred)
  • 1+ years experience in diesel fleet maintenance
  • Valid driver's license (CDL A preferred)
  • Good written and oral communication skills
Work Environment:

Intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, crouching, walking, lifting of light and heavy objects. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 lbs.

Required to sit, stand, walk use hands to finger, handle, feel, talk, hear, to reach with hands or arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and smell.

Must be able to lay on back on a mechanic's dolly to work underneath motor vehicle equipment.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Associate must be free of any conditions which result in temporary loss of consciousness or ability to reason.

Work is performed with exposure to noise, chemicals, noxious odors gases, poor ventilation, inclement weather, dirt, grease, dust and machinery with moving parts requiring use of protective devices.
