About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Dental Assistant to join our team at the State of Delaware. As a Dental Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our dental team in delivering high-quality services.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist dentists and dental hygienists during chairside procedures, including operative, preventive, periodontal, endodontic, prosthetic, and oral surgery.
- Prepare and maintain dental instruments, equipment, and maintenance logs.
- Take and develop radiographs.
- Disinfect environmental surfaces and sterilize instruments and equipment according to federal, state, and institutional standards.
- Provide patient education and oral hygiene instructions under the direction of dentists and dental hygienists.
- Greet patients, answer telephones, and coordinate scheduling for patient appointments.
- Maintain patient records, including entering, updating, and retrieving client information into an established information system.
- Record charting, examination, and treatment information as relayed by dentists or designated clinical staff.
- Update dental records to include information such as CDT codes, diagnosis codes, date of service, and billing.
- Maintain inventory and order supplies for the clinic's operation.
- May assist in training dental assistant trainees and volunteers.
Requirements
- Possession of a Delaware Dental Radiation Technician Certification or a Dental Radiation Technologist Certification from the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB).
- Possession of a Valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked, or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
