Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Laboratory Manager to join our team at Quest Diagnostics. As a key member of our laboratory operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the activities of the department, distributing and assigning work, determining priorities, and scheduling non-routine procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and manage laboratory staff, including interviewing, hiring, training, and providing staff development through performance evaluation and corrective counseling.
  • Perform advanced and specialized tests, and other related laboratory techniques, including duplicating work to confirm test results.
  • Check and approve all specialized and problem reports for accuracy, and initiate quality-control measures to monitor the quality of work.
  • Maintain laboratory areas and equipment in a safe, functional, and sanitary condition, and complete training and competency checklists as required.
  • Adhere to all established CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and laboratory safety requirements, and use personal protective equipment, engineering controls, and work practice controls as directed by management.
Requirements
  • Minimum five (5) years of full-time supervisory experience, and six years of clinical experience.
  • At least one year of experience as a Supervisor at Quest Diagnostics.
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time, and manual dexterity to use a wide variety of manual and automated pipettes and laboratory instruments and apparatuses.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Comprehensive theoretical and operational job knowledge in designated specialty, and knowledge of organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Proven leadership and problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently, establish work priorities, and handle several tasks simultaneously for maximum department efficiency.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to deal courteously and effectively with employees, co-workers, and clients, and ability to deal with client information in a confidential manner.
