Key Responsibilities:
We are currently seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Preoperative and Post Anesthesia Care Unit. This role involves floating between multiple facilities in the DFW metroplex.

- Conduct thorough assessments of patients' preoperative and postoperative conditions, adhering to established protocols and procedures, focusing on:
- Cardiovascular health
- Respiratory function and airway management
- Neurological status
- Hemodynamic stability
- Pain management and comfort
- Mental health status.

- Accurately interpret data from various monitoring devices.
- Explain the pathophysiology of common medical conditions.
- Understand the physiological implications of different anesthesia methods and surgical procedures.

- Develop personalized perianesthesia care plans.


- Execute care plans, which include:
- Preparing for and overseeing patient recovery from general anesthesia.
- Managing recovery from monitored anesthesia care.
- Overseeing recovery from regional anesthesia.
- Ensuring patient safety during recovery from local anesthesia.
- Protecting patients from potential injuries related to positioning and environmental factors.
- Communicating patients' statuses throughout the care continuum.
- Providing effective pain management as required.
- Administering medications safely, adhering to the 8 rights of medication administration.
- Maintaining the integrity of surgical wounds and ensuring adequate tissue perfusion.

- Monitor and manage patients' various bodily systems and balances, ensuring they remain stable.

- Ensure patients return to normal body temperature following surgery.

- Implement infection control measures.


- Address any co-existing health conditions as necessary.
- Manage fluid intake as prescribed.
- Assess and educate patients and their support persons regarding:
- Expected emotional responses
- Nutritional needs
- Medication management
- Pain and comfort strategies
- Wound care
- Anticipated reactions to surgical procedures;

- Involve patients and their support persons in decisions regarding their care plans and rehabilitation.


- Safeguard patients' rights, dignity, and confidentiality.
- Deliver age-appropriate, culturally sensitive, and ethical care within legal standards; and
- Ensure consistent care quality across different settings.

- Evaluate patient progress towards desired outcomes.
- Facilitate care transitions as necessary.

- Provide accurate and concise hand-off reports to team members regarding patients' conditions and responses to treatment.

- Delegate tasks in accordance with state nursing regulations and job descriptions.


- Document nursing care thoroughly and legibly.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams as needed.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives.
- Participate in performance evaluations.
- Utilize problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to enhance team dynamics.
- Maintain required competencies and pursue ongoing professional development.
- Advocate for patients while ensuring the confidentiality of their health information.
- Adhere to all facility policies and procedures in patient care.
- Actively engage in team meetings, training sessions, and safety briefings.
- Demonstrate fiscal responsibility.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
- Minimum of one year of experience in Preoperative or PACU settings required.
- Experience in medical/surgical nursing.
- Current state nursing license in good standing.

- Completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within 90 days of employment or proof of current certification.

- Completion of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) course within 90 days of employment or proof of current certification.

- Completion of Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course is required if pediatric care is part of the facility's services within 90 days of employment or proof of current certification.


Compensation:
- Minimum: USD $40.00/Hr.
- Maximum: USD $50.00/Hr.
