Job Title: Division Registered Behavior Technician

The Lynchburg City Schools is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Division Registered Behavior Technician to join our team. As a key member of our Student Services department, you will play a vital role in supporting students with behavioral challenges.

Job Summary:

The Division Registered Behavior Technician will work under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to implement student-specific behavior management/support plans. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and other staff members.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement student-specific behavior management/support plans under the supervision of the BCBA and in consultation with the Behavior Coach.
  • Assist classroom teachers in gathering data specific to student-specific goals for assigned students.
  • Implement programming to increase student academic stamina and deliver pre-determined reinforcement while the student completes classroom tasks.
  • Assist assigned students with self-regulation during large and small group activities.
  • Implement strategies to build student SEL competencies while participating in instruction.
  • Provide daily updates on assigned students' progress toward mastery of behavioral goals.
  • Provide behavior-specific redirection to assigned students when behavior affects the student's learning or learning of others.
  • Supervise assigned students during unstructured time such as lunch and recess.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of sixty (60) credit hours from an accredited post-secondary institution or career technical facility or an Associate's Degree or successfully completed the ParaPro assessment.
  • Ability to adhere to the Behavior Analyst Certification Board Code of Ethics.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including active listening, empathy, and relationship building.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and the ability to use sound judgment in responding to client issues and concerns.
  • Ability to adapt to changing environments and receive constructive feedback.
