Job Title: Driver

Join the Society of St. Vincent de Paul South Pinellas Inc. team as a Driver, responsible for transporting merchandise and goods to and from our Thrift Store locations.

Job Summary:

The Driver will be responsible for driving a pre-scheduled route to pick up donations and deliver merchandise to customers and clients. This role requires a high level of organization, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive a pre-scheduled route to pick up donations and deliver merchandise to customers and clients
  • Load and unload merchandise, including furniture, bedding, appliances, and household items
  • Assist in using lifts, dollies, and other equipment for heavy items, as well as safety belts to prevent personal injury
  • Operate the vehicle in a safe and responsible manner, observing all rules of the road and those established by management
  • Be cognizant of the vehicle and its personnel as ambassadors of goodwill and a moving billboard for St. Vincent de Paul CARES
  • Be responsible for the cleanliness of the vehicle and the need for preventive maintenance, including oil changes
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager or Assistant Manager, including daily tasks and checklists
  • Complete daily logs and adhere to the truck maintenance schedule
Requirements:
  • Able to speak, write, and understand English
  • Possess basic computer skills
  • Must be sensitive to and respect cultural diversity amongst clients, staff, and volunteers, and able to work with diverse racial, ethnic, and economic groups
  • Flexible work schedule, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to set appropriate limits, work under deadlines, and multi-task
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, self-motivate, and deliver results
  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • Possess strong work ethics
  • Successfully pass Law Enforcement background screening
  • Valid Florida driver's license if driving an agency vehicle or a personal vehicle for company business
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Participate in Agency Performance Quality Improvement (PQI) program and Accreditation/Reaccreditation process

  • Adherence to the highest ethical standards, personally and professionally
  • A high level of openness and willingness to receive feedback/suggestions from superiors and others, and to learn new skills to improve job performance

Work Environment:

The Driver will work in a fast-paced environment, occasionally exposed to noise, and may be required to work outside of regular hours. All information associated with the Agency is confidential.
