Job Summary

As an Auto Body Painter/Ride Mechanic at Silver Dollar City, you will be responsible for preparing and painting fiberglass theme park rides. Additionally, you will be accountable for preventive and corrective maintenance for all designated rides and/or attractions.

Our team of mechanics works behind the scenes to ensure the rides stay up and running safely during park hours.

Key Responsibilities
  • Paint ride vehicles and projects with precision and accuracy to specified quality standards.
  • Repair defects on painted surfaces.
  • Renovate and renew paint coatings.
  • Prepare surfaces for painting and coating (sands, buffs, touch-ups, paint mixing, airbrush, and polishing).
  • Remove rust from metal, grease, and dirt from work surfaces.
  • Inspect, repair, and replace parts as needed.
  • Take care of unpainted parts by covering them with paper and masking tape.
  • Match colors and mix paints to project specifications.
  • Apply primer, paint, and clear coat to repaired surfaces.
  • Paint surfaces using a sprayer or brush as appropriate.
  • Inspect painted units for quality of workmanship.
Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.
  • Must be able to work days, evenings, weekdays, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Must be able to read, write, comprehend instructions, and communicate in English.
  • Must have a Missouri Class E Driver's License or resident state equivalent.
  • Must have working knowledge of paint mixing and matching techniques.
  • Must be proficient in all areas of automotive repair and maintenance.
  • Must have a working knowledge of basic hand and power tools.
  • Must have a high attention to detail, accuracy, and precision.
  • Must have strong dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3 years of previous automotive painting experience, maintenance experience, and/or experience in a Theme Park Industry setting.
  • Proof of ASE Certification.
  • Proof of current certification(s) in any related field or equipment.
  • Proof of OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour course completion.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and up to 100 pounds (assisted).
  • Ability to stand and walk on uneven terrain, inclines, asphalt, and concrete.
  • Must be able to tolerate a year-round outdoor environment; cold and hot temperatures.
  • Ability to withstand heights, climb stairs, walk, sit, and stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day.
