Job Summary

Supervises kitchen staff as well as cooks and/or assists with the preparation of food orders guests of assigned outlet.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performs supervisory responsibilities such as planning, assigning, and directing work; conducting training programs; evaluating performance; and handling team member relations matters.
  • Assists Food and Beverage management in collaborating with team members on the design of professional development plans that support their continuous learning.
  • Participates in the planning of and preparation for regularly scheduled meetings with team members.
  • Enforces performance standards, policies, and procedures relating to Food and Beverage; ensures compliance with food and kitchen-related safety regulations.
  • Oversees line and prep stations to ensure that all the ingredients and necessary components for the menu items to be prepared during the shift are ready at the start of the shift (mise en place); assists when necessary.
  • Cooks or assists line cooks in cooking good food in a speedy and organized manner.
  • Maintains a clean cooking area, including clean, sharp, and organized utensils.
  • Maintains a high standard of professionalism and works well with the kitchen staff to expedite guest orders promptly and accurately.
  • Follows established proper kitchen procedures; clarifies policy before proceeding.
  • Ensures necessary high quality inventory is available, when needed.
  • Recommends menu items and production procedures for the Back of House and assists with controlling costs and managing the budget.
  • Ensures completion of projects in a timely manner working independently or with other team members.
  • Completes a shift report after each shift; documents shift accomplishments and issues for manager's review and/or action.
  • Posts and distributes memos from other departments making sure staff are aware of important information.
  • Assists with maintaining the department filing system by filing memos, correspondence, and other documents.
  • Participates in on-going professional and personal development activities to keep up with trends in the industry as well as for self-improvement.
Requirements
  • Two years of cooking experience in a hospitality environment
  • Must pass a pre-employment Math and Writing assessment test with a minimum of 85% proficiency.
  • Must obtain valid food handler's and alcohol awareness cards within 90 days of employment.
  • Must obtain ServSafe certification within 90 days of employment.
  • Computer proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet applications.
  • Demonstrated track record of reliability, responsiveness, and punctuality.
  • Must be able to work any shift, weekends, holidays, special events, and overtime, as needed.
  • Must have employment eligibility in the United States.
  • Must be able to obtain, maintain, and retain a valid gaming license.
