Trades Specialist for Facility Maintenance

Beneath the guidance of the Manager, you will serve as a skilled trades specialist and certified locksmith, responsible for delivering exceptional facility maintenance services across the Downtown and Franklin campuses, as well as all other Northwestern Mutual facilities and grounds.

Your primary objectives include:

  • Carpentry: Design, build, repair, and restore various structures, ensuring high-quality outcomes.
  • Locksmithing: Install, maintain, and program electronic locks and recording devices, as well as create custom key systems.
  • General Duties and Administration: Manage inventory, coordinate equipment orders, and oversee the duties of Lead Carpenter during absences.

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • A high school degree or equivalent, with courses in carpentry, shop, mechanical drawing, and mathematics.
  • A minimum of 5 years of commercial construction or carpentry experience, along with expertise in hardware and locksmithing.
  • Superior manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination, and strong mathematical skills, including advanced algebra and three-dimensional figures.
  • Knowledge of various carpentry tools and stationary power equipment, as well as the ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Physical stamina to lift up to 40 pounds regularly and 80 pounds occasionally.

You will be expected to adhere to work-related OSHA regulations, demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office products, and stay informed about new carpentry methods, materials, and tools.

In return, Northwestern Mutual offers a competitive compensation package, with a salary range of $25,000 - $37,500. The actual salary will be determined based on factors such as your skills, education, and experience.
