Job Overview

The Facilities Operations Technician at The dReam Center Church of Atlanta plays a vital role in maintaining the church's environment by managing building schedules and ensuring all maintenance tasks and grounds upkeep are performed efficiently. This position reports directly to the Chief Operations Officer.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the church's appearance, cleanliness, and overall upkeep.
  • Oversee the opening and closing of the facility for worship services, rehearsals, meetings, and office hours, adhering to established protocols.
  • Conduct routine maintenance tasks, including repairs to structural elements such as windows, doors, and walls, as well as painting, electrical work, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC maintenance, and light fixture repairs.
  • Ensure dispensers for hand sanitizer, soap, paper towels, and bathroom tissue are stocked, vacuum the sanctuary between services, and manage waste disposal as necessary.
  • Facilitate work orders for repairs, inspections, installations, and supply orders.
  • Perform a variety of semiskilled and skilled trades work under supervision in the maintenance and repair of church facilities.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain security, climate control, and other facility systems.
  • Guide and instruct volunteers in their work assignments.
  • Monitor contractors and maintenance personnel on-site to ensure compliance with safety and efficiency standards.
  • Review plans and conduct inspections to ensure adherence to established guidelines.
  • Manage resources effectively, overseeing projects, purchases, preventative maintenance, and work orders.
  • Organize and maintain an efficient inventory of parts and supplies in maintenance and storage areas.
  • Address facility breakdowns that may occur outside of regular working hours.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Pre-Service and Post-Service Duties:
  • Execute building opening and closing procedures.
  • Conduct inspections based on the Facilities Checklist.
  • Troubleshoot HVAC climate control issues as needed.
  • Perform trash collection inside and outside the building between scheduled cleaning days.
During Service Responsibilities:
  • Address maintenance requests promptly for safety concerns.
  • Implement damage control measures for plumbing issues, including leaks and floods.
  • Manage electrical issues, including severed wires and shortages.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate deliveries with vendors.
  • Manage facilities-related pickups.
  • Assist with staging and design placements.
  • Set up and dismantle multi-purpose rooms and common areas.
  • Ensure rooms are adequately equipped and stocked.
  • Provide emergency cleaning services as necessary.
  • Support the training of Facilities volunteers.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Required)
  • At least 2 years of maintenance experience (Required)
  • Valid Driver's License (Required)
  • Technical certifications are advantageous.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and task management software.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Able to collaborate effectively across teams to support ministry activities.
  • Demonstrates good work habits and time management skills.
  • Committed to maintaining a safe working environment.
