Key Responsibilities

As a Surgical Services Registered Nurse (RN), your duties will include:

  • Conducting patient assessments, formulating care plans, and executing and evaluating care strategies.
  • Collaborating with an interdisciplinary care team to ensure safe and effective care delivery.
  • Performing age-appropriate assessments upon patient arrival to the surgical suite.
  • Assisting with patient care during anesthesia induction and preparing patients for local anesthesia.
  • Maintaining a sterile and secure surgical environment.
  • Executing correct surgical preparations.
  • Documenting and reporting patient care accurately.
  • Demonstrating proficiency in all surgical specialties and equipment.
  • Engaging in professional development and assisting in the orientation of new staff.
  • Completing annual departmental competencies.
Qualifications

Experience:

Minimum of 1 year of RN experience in the Surgical Services environment is required. Hospital experience is highly preferred.

Education:

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications:

Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License. If holding a Compact License, a Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required as per St. David's Healthcare policy.

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is required as per St. David's Healthcare policy.
