We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nurse Practitioner II to join our team in the Department of Surgery at the University of California, Irvine. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, managing inpatient care, and coordinating with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities- Assess health needs, plan, and evaluate care for patients on the general surgery services and in the surgical intensive care unit.
- Participate in inpatient sign-out at the beginning and end of shifts.
- Follow up with general surgery teams, residents, and attending physicians.
- Be involved in trauma resuscitations and perform surgical consultations on potential general surgery patients.
- Responsible for care and organization of procedures, including scheduling operations, interventional procedures, and follow-up.
- Triage phone calls and respond to patient inquiries.
- Review critical labs, follow up on results with patients and medical staff, and obtain comprehensive medical histories.
- Perform initial and periodic physical examinations and assessments.
- Explore patients' interpretation of health needs and identify and treat patients.
- Manage treatment of hospitalized patients and provide multi-disciplinary care coordination, treatment, education, monitoring, and communication with patients and referring physicians.
- Current, active, unrestricted California Registered Nurse license.
- Current, active, unrestricted California Nurse Practitioner license.
- Current, active, unrestricted Furnishing license and DEA registration.
- Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).
- NP National Board Certification (Adult Gerontology Acute Care AGACNP-BC or ACNPC-AG).
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification.
- Within six months of hire, ATLS certification.
- Within one year of hire, PALS and ATLS certification.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in a setting and patient population similar to this role.
- Knowledge of Windows and MS Office software applications.
- Familiarity with UC policies and procedures.
- Bilingual in Spanish and/or Vietnamese.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in Trauma/Critical Care.
