The Nemours Nursing Team seeks a skilled Neurology Specialty Nurse to provide expert care to our patients. As a member of our interdisciplinary team, you will be responsible for coordinating patient care, participating in phone triage, and communicating with families through Nemours portal messages. You will also participate in patient and family education, in clinic or via phone, regarding common Neurology diagnoses and medications. The ideal candidate will have excellent time management skills, be a proactive worker, and work well in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct ongoing assessment and evaluation of patient progress and revise the interdisciplinary plan of care as needed.
  2. Identify patient/family needs for further resources and initiate appropriate teaching and/or referrals.
  3. Participate in responding to patient phone calls and explain treatment regimens to patient/family after discussing with the physician or advanced practice provider.
  4. Share clinical knowledge with other members of the healthcare team and collaborate with the Nursing Education Department to share subspecialty knowledge with nursing staff.
  5. Act as a liaison between families and members of the healthcare team.
  6. Utilize specialized knowledge and technical skills in nursing practice related to subspecialty, in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, hospital policy, and protocol.
  7. Participate in the development of standards of care for the specialty patient population.
  8. Demonstrate proficiency in the care of all ages, from neonates to adults.
  9. Recognize and identify own learning needs and responsibility for continual development, striving to increase knowledge and set goals for professional growth.
  10. Participate in departmental and hospital programs for Quality/Process Assessment and Improvement, identifying opportunities to improve services and making recommendations as appropriate.
Requirements:
  • BSN required.
  • Active Delaware (or compact state) Registered Nurse Licensure Required.
  • American Heart Association BLS required.
  • Minimum of one year of nursing experience, with three or more years preferred.
  • Pediatric nursing experience is required.
  • Prior neurology nursing experience is preferred.
