The role involves working in a 32-bed acute medical surgical unit that focuses on the care of patients with renal, stroke, and urology conditions. The unit typically manages an average of 24-27 patients daily, providing comprehensive treatment for both chronic and acute renal diseases, often complicated by other health issues such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, and infectious wounds. Additionally, the unit caters to acute stroke patients following their stabilization from intensive care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality nursing care based on evidence-based practices.
- Engage in thorough discharge planning to minimize the risk of readmission.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing or equivalent.
- Preferred experience of six (6) months in a similar role.
- Active RN license or permit to practice in the State of Louisiana.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification to be obtained within two (2) weeks of employment.
- Current NIHSS certification required at the time of hire or within 90 days for experienced RNs, and within 12 months for new graduates.
- Arrhythmia Recognition certification must be obtained at the time of hire or within 8 weeks for experienced RNs, and within 6 months for new graduates.
