The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in delivering quality care to patients in a correctional facility setting. As a member of the VitalCore Health Strategies team, the LPN will be responsible for providing nursing care within the scope of practice as outlined by the local state nurse practice act.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver quality care to patients, including monitoring vital signs and reporting changes to medical staff.
- Administer medications to offenders as directed by the Medical Director, DON, or Registered Nurse.
- Provide wound care, including cleaning and dressing/bandaging.
- Assist in the development and implementation of teaching plans based on individual patient needs.
- Document actions in the MAR and medical records.
- Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program.
- Currently licensed as a Practical Nurse in the state of employment.
- Possesses an active CPR certification.
- Remains knowledgeable about specific state laws and regulations governing practice.
- Satisfactory completion of initial and annual clinical competencies to demonstrate aptitude as assigned by role.
