POSITION SUMMARY:


The Senior Financial Analyst plays a crucial role in executing comprehensive accounting functions, which encompass account evaluations, reconciliations, budget discrepancy assessments, and various other responsibilities.

This is achieved by acquiring a thorough comprehension of the designated areas and collaborating across departments.

As part of our flexible work initiative, this role offers a hybrid work model with the possibility of remote work up to 80%. Candidates must reside within a specified distance from our main office location.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
You will conduct analytical reviews of designated sections or departments within the monthly financial reports to guarantee precision. This involves documenting monthly journal entries that are meticulously prepared and substantiated.

Your responsibilities will include performing in-depth analysis and reconciliation of assigned general ledger accounts, ensuring that there is sufficient supporting documentation for both the transactions and the final balances of these accounts.


The Senior Analyst will identify any unusual variances, such as discrepancies between actual and budgeted figures, and ensure that these variances are thoroughly recorded.

Moreover, you will prepare and analyze year-end audit schedules as necessary and cultivate a robust understanding of accounting principles pertinent to the nonprofit publishing sector.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Preferred Attributes:
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (equivalent education and/or experience may be considered)

Demonstrated strong analytical capabilities

A minimum of 5 years of experience in Finance or a related field

Proficiency in accounting software

A solid understanding of GAAP Accounting and financial reporting

The ability and dedication to foster and maintain relationships to support and enhance personal, team, and organizational efforts

Highly Desirable:
An MBA and CMA Certification, with experience in auditing and accounting specifically within the publishing and nonprofit sectors, as well as experience in public auditing firms

Expertise in Oracle Financials and IBM Cognos (TM1)
