The Manufacturing Engineering Trainee is an entry-level role designed to assist and support various stages of the fabrication and manufacturing project lifecycle. Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in both additive and subtractive manufacturing processes for mechanical components, systems, fixtures, and tooling.
  • Utilize [HAAS] CNC machinery along with manual lathes, mills, and other manufacturing tools.
  • Employ precision inspection and validation instruments such as optical comparators and micrometers.
  • Collaborate with Testing and Quality Control/Quality Assurance teams.
  • Utilize CAD software (Solidworks) to interpret solid models and engineering drawings for rapid manufacturing.
  • Implement CAM software (Mastercam) to develop manufacturing job sequences and prototype hardware.
  • Coordinate project timelines with management, supply chain, and account management teams.
  • Assist in engineering, design, and manufacturing operations as required.
  • Support testing and quality assurance of products to assess safety, efficacy, and compliance.
  • Contribute to brainstorming sessions for innovative product and process ideas.
  • Troubleshoot production challenges alongside project team members.
  • Expand knowledge of technologies relevant to the markets served.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of JAKTOOL's capabilities to assist in sales efforts.
  • Work independently on assigned tasks while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements:

  • A high school diploma is mandatory.
  • Vocational or college-level training in machining, fabrication, welding, mathematics, or current enrollment in related programs is advantageous.
  • Ideal candidates will possess 1-4 years of fabrication or shop experience, or be a junior candidate with exceptional hands-on fabrication skills or manufacturing experience.

Skills and Experience:

  • Hands-on experience in manufacturing and assembly is essential (lathe, mill, machine tools).
  • Willingness to learn CAD (Solidworks) for reading and basic manipulation of drawings is required.
  • Willingness to learn CAM (MasterCam) for milling and turning processes.
  • Prior experience with Quality Assurance/Quality Control and metrology is beneficial.
  • A high degree of mechanical aptitude is necessary.
  • Strong analytical, communication, teamwork, and organizational skills are crucial.
  • Basic math and computer skills are required.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and remain on feet for the majority of the workday.
