Job Title: GED Math Instructor

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced GED Math Instructor to join our team at Laredo College. As a GED Math Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching and preparing students to successfully take the General Education Development exam.

Job Summary:

The GED Math Instructor will be responsible for creating and implementing lesson plans, conducting needs assessments, and developing educational plans of action for each participant. You will also be responsible for monitoring participants' needs, maintaining required documentation, and assessing program students using the TABE test.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and deliver high-quality instruction to students in a classroom setting
  • Conduct needs assessments and develop educational plans of action for each participant
  • Monitor participants' needs and maintain required documentation
  • Assess program students using the TABE test
  • Attend staff meetings and professional development workshops as required
  • Keep daily attendance records and progress reports
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director, Dean of Community Education, Provost/Vice President, and/or President
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree with 15 hours in Mathematics or related courses
  • Three years of teaching experience preferred
  • Current teaching credential preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to maintain excellent working relationships with program staff and participants
  • Knowledgeable, mature, and concerned with the welfare and academic progress of participants
  • Be bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Must demonstrate enthusiasm and be a positive role model
  • Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in written form
  • Must be familiar with the Internet, word processing, spreadsheet, and PowerPoint software
Work Environment:

Work is performed in a standard office environment. The employee is required to sit regularly and occasionally stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
