Overview

The Transport Specialist role involves the delivery of bulk and packaged goods, navigating routes, and offering customer service and logistical assistance in relation to lubricant department shipments across the designated area.

Key Responsibilities

- Ensure safe and efficient transportation of loaded and empty tanker, bulk, semi, and van trucks in a professional and legal manner.

- Hook and unhook trailers, operate pumps and valves on and off the vehicle, and safely fill tanks of various types and sizes using appropriate hoses, nozzles, and fittings.

- Secure all products, hoses, and essential tools using approved methods such as tie-downs and straps.

- Load and unload trailers as necessary, involving frequent lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying of products and tools.

- Verify customer orders for accuracy and ensure compliance with Distributor Product Integrity Manual (DPIM) standards. Monitor key performance indicators to identify potential customer service issues and report them to supervisors promptly.

- Represent Farstad Oil professionally to customers, the public, and the trucking industry.

- Collaborate with Dispatchers to address any issues that arise during transit or delivery, and implement solutions to meet customer needs.

- Maintain effective relationships with Management, Dispatchers, customers, and colleagues to ensure customer satisfaction.

- Complete all necessary documentation and maintain records in accordance with State and Federal regulations.

- Provide accurate reporting on accidents, safety, and other related matters as required. Maintain logs of working hours and vehicle service or repair status, adhering to applicable regulations.

- Follow safety protocols for transporting hazardous materials, conducting safety inspections of vehicles and equipment to ensure operational readiness.

- Maneuver vehicles into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading personnel and ensuring proper alignment of the vehicle and loading equipment.

- Perform additional duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

- May assist in warehouse operations on an as-needed basis by safely operating warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, hand trucks) to move large and heavy items.

- Assist with unloading rail cars and transferring products to inventory.

Qualifications

- High School Diploma or GED.

- Valid Class A Driver's License.

- Clean driving record.

- Current DOT Medical Card.

- Minimum of 1 year of full-time verifiable tractor-trailer tanker experience.

- Tanker and Hazmat endorsements.

- Doubles/Triples endorsements.

- Ability to work in all weather conditions, with experience driving in winter weather.

- Willingness to work long hours, including day and night shifts.

- Ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods.

- Capable of passing a pre-employment drug screening and in-truck driving test.

- Strong verbal communication skills.

- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

- Ability to manage priorities and workflow effectively.

- Capacity to make timely and sound decisions.

- Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.

- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.

- Ability to work independently.
