Key Responsibilities:
  • Medication Management: Ensure that medications meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Patient Education: Participate in the education of patients, caregivers, and the community on medication use and management.
  • Patient Safety: Support patient safety systems and ensure that all available means of communication are checked regularly.
  • Pharmacy Operations: Ensure the smooth running of the pharmacy and act as a role model for technicians and other pharmacists.
  • Investigational Drugs: Maintain investigational drug records according to departmental policy.
  • Medication Review: Conduct discharge medication review and counseling to ensure that patients/caregivers understand their medication therapies.
  • Study Participation: Participate in study initiation, maintenance, and closure.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or Ph.D. in Pharmacy required.
  • Certification: RPH certification from the state of Texas required.
  • Experience: 2+ years hospital staff pharmacist experience preferred.
  • Training: 40 hours of training in compounding sterile products accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education or the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists preferred.
