Job SummaryAs an Apprentice Clerk at Public Service Enterprise Group Inc., you will perform advanced clerical work requiring the exercise of judgment and initiative. This role involves completing, consolidating, or verifying the work of others, computing costs, assigning account numbers, and performing posting and clerical work. You will also maintain continuing property records, validate inventory levels, and prepare reports from information posted on summary sheets.
Key Responsibilities
• Complete, consolidate, or verify the work of others, including payrolls, general stores reports, and Meter Group operation.
• Compute costs, such as sundry sales, accident costs, interchange, and auditors' charges.
• Assign account numbers on various documents in accordance with accounting guidelines.
• Perform posting and clerical work, including compilations and computations, prepare requisitions from material orders, and check purchase order information.
• Maintain continuing property records and validate inventory levels.
• Prepare scrap recommendations, issue credit tickets with line material tally sheet, and post and process time sheets.
• Prepare and check work orders and material lists from sketches prepared by others.
• Compile and record data on maps and records, such as substation apparatus records, meter history records, and transformer records.
• Prepare reports from information posted on summary sheets, including retirement reports, payroll analyses, and reports of work for customers covered by blanket policies.
Requirements
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Ability to operate automated office equipment and perform arithmetic operations, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Ability to acquire a working knowledge of the information associated with the department or section to which assigned and perform the work in an acceptable manner.
• Ability to acquire a working knowledge of the application of corporate and departmental administrative and accounting procedures.
• Patient, neat, clean, orderly, precise, and able to exercise care in work performance.
• Valid auto driver's license to operate motor vehicles in the State of New Jersey.
• Ability to learn to apply approved methods of manual artificial respiration, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
