**Essential Job Functions:**
* Conduct geotechnical field investigations and analyze failures involving soils, foundations, and construction-related problems on commercial, residential, and industrial properties
* Determine the cause, origin, and extent of failures and losses relating to soil-related issues, landslides/slope failures, retaining walls, shallow, intermediate and deep foundation systems, earthwork grading, and stormwater runoff
* Prepare oral and written reports in laymen's terms that document causes of failure, and extent of loss
* Deliver professional presentations, develop client relationships and promote self to client groups
* Ability to support conclusions by appropriate expert testimony in legal proceedings
* Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies
**Position Requirements:**
* B.S. in Civil Engineering with a geotechnical focus, Masters Degree preferred
* Minimum of five (5) years of post-academic geotechnical engineer experience
* P. E. (Professional Engineer) registration required through testing
* Must possess demonstrable strong writing skills
* Public speaking experience a plus
* Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
**Physical Requirements:**
* Ability to travel 25% of the time
* Ability to lift 50 lbs
* Ability to maneuver in and around buildings and in confined spaces
* Ability to drive to site locations, at times at unpredictable hours and travel via plane
* Ability to effectively communicate with clients and colleagues
* Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required by the work site
