POSITION SUMMARY:
Accountable for overseeing the central monitoring station in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) to track patient metrics for those under telemetry observation across the healthcare facility. Responsible for communicating any significant changes to nursing staff and physicians. Multiple 12-hour day shift roles are available, accompanied by a sign-on incentive.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Recognizes critical cardiac rhythms and alerts the necessary personnel.
  • Designates an individual for handoff reports during breaks and shift transitions.
  • Ensures patient alarms are operational at all times and routinely checks alarm settings.
  • Exhibits clinical proficiency through performance and continuous education.
  • Engages in hospital and professional growth initiatives.
  • Demonstrates effective organization and prioritization abilities.
  • Participates in staff meetings and mandatory training sessions.
  • Contributes to strategies aimed at cost efficiency.
  • Involves in hospital activities such as committee participation and competitions.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
A High School Diploma or GED is mandatory. Must possess foundational knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and arrhythmia analysis.

CERTIFICATIONS:
Completion of a Monitor Technician Course is preferred. Successful achievement of the Monitor Technician BKAT with a score of 80% or higher is required within a six-month timeframe.

SKILLS REQUIRED:
Proficient understanding of central station monitoring operations and troubleshooting techniques.

COLLABORATION:
Works closely with medical personnel, nursing staff, and ancillary departments to ensure optimal patient care.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The role involves continuous monitoring, interpreting EKG readings, reporting arrhythmias, and documenting findings.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Indoor setting with variable hours. Moderate exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
