As a Cybersecurity Risk Management Specialist at Southern California Edison (SCE), you will play a crucial role in shaping a secure future. This position is situated within the Cybersecurity and IT Compliance division, where your expertise will be essential in evaluating and managing cybersecurity risks associated with emerging technologies, vendors, and hardware.

Your Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Conduct thorough cybersecurity risk evaluations on vendors to identify security weaknesses, employing advanced traffic analysis techniques and both commercial and open-source tools.
  • Leverage Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) platforms and threat intelligence software to assess potential breach threats and historical security incidents, providing foundational recommendations for compensating controls.
  • Perform penetration testing and vulnerability assessments on vendor software and hardware, utilizing various scanning technologies to uncover insecure configurations and software vulnerabilities, and suggest effective remediation strategies.
  • Review Third Party Audit Documentation, Penetration Testing Reports, and Security Certifications to assess and communicate potential risks to the organization.
  • Identify deviations from established standards, policies, or contractual obligations.
  • Apply industry best practices to evaluate the impact of any realized incidents on organizational data/infrastructure and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct cybersecurity risk assessments on exceptions to Cybersecurity Policies, utilizing relevant technologies to gather information and apply best practices for risk evaluation.
Qualifications

The essentials:
  • Associate's Degree or higher
  • 0-3 years of experience in Cybersecurity

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Network Administration, or a related field
  • Familiarity with certifications such as CEH, CompTIA Security+, GSEC, CISSP

Work Environment

This position operates in a hybrid work model, requiring attendance at an SCE facility for a designated number of days, with the flexibility to work remotely on other days. Employees are expected to reside in California.
