Job Summary

Workforce Solutions Deep East Texas is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Career Development Specialist to join our team. As a Career Development Specialist, you will play a critical role in informing, educating, and engaging students in career development and career decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Career Guidance and Support: Offer one-on-one guidance and support to students in grades 5-12, helping them explore career options and make informed decisions about their future.
  • Develop and Implement Career Development Programs: Design and implement career development programs that align with the needs of local employers and the goals of Workforce Solutions Deep East Texas.
  • Build Partnerships with Local Employers and Educational Institutions: Foster strong relationships with local employers and educational institutions to provide students with opportunities for job shadowing, internships, and apprenticeships.
  • Conduct Career Workshops and Presentations: Deliver engaging and informative career workshops and presentations to students, parents, and guardians, highlighting the importance of career development and the resources available to support it.
  • Collaborate with School Counselors and Administrators: Work closely with school counselors and administrators to ensure that career development services are integrated into the school's curriculum and support students' career goals.
  • Stay Up-to-Date on Labor Market Trends: Stay current on labor market trends and industry needs, ensuring that career development services are aligned with the needs of local employers.
  • Travel and Represent Workforce Solutions Deep East Texas: Travel to schools, employers, and community organizations to represent Workforce Solutions Deep East Texas and promote career development services.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, Business, Education, or a Related Field: A bachelor's degree in human services, business, education, or a related field from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Experience in Education, Youth Training, or Workforce Development: At least two years of experience in education, youth training, or workforce development programs, preferably in gathering and reporting outcomes, and/or ISD experience as a teacher or counselor working with at-risk middle or high school populations.
  • Valid Driver's License and Reliable Transportation: A valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation for local, in-state, and out-of-state travel.
